Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee collaborates with the Mehta Family Foundation (MFF), United States, to establish the Mehta Family School of Data science and Artificial intelligence. The two organizations signed a memorandum of understanding at a virtual event on September 27, 2021.
As part of this collaboration, the new institute will offer bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programs. It will welcome its first cohort of undergraduate students in September 2022. The institute aims to develop a new and qualified workforce in the fields of data science and artificial intelligence, with the aim of empowering the existing workforce by providing targeted training and certifications in these areas.
The institute will be installed in a new building dedicated to IIT Roorkee campus developed with the support of MFF. In addition to infrastructure, renowned experts in the field of AI will actively participate in program design, faculty recruitment, monitoring and proposing new research ideas to Indian students at this school. These experts will also facilitate MFF student scholarships and faculty exchange programs with the aim of making this initiative a success.
The Mehta Family School of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence aims to provide technical support to national and international projects related to the growth of data science and artificial intelligence. Its other objectives are to support government initiatives by sowing entrepreneurship and startups.
