Hokies beat Old Dominion 3-0 to stay unbeaten

NORFOLK, Virginia. Virginia Tech Women’s Soccer took victory over Old Dominion as Taylor Prize, Tori Powelland Gaby Johnson scored in a 3-0 non-conference win at the ODU Football Complex on Thursday night.

For the third consecutive outing, Price scored the game’s first goal for Tech in the 22nd minute, his fourth of the season. Price remains the ACC’s highest-ranked freshman this season in goals scored. Powell ran the ball halfway up the field and into the net for the Hokies’ second goal of the night (4-0-1), which was assisted by Price.

Graduate student Gaby Johnson scored his second career goal as a Hokie with a right kick to the middle and back of the net in the 73rd minute of the game. The Hokies had 10 shots on goal, while limiting the Monarchs (0-4) to 11 total shots.

Originally from Richmond, Virginia, Lauren Hargrove earned his third clean sheet of his career by stopping a career-high five shots on goal. Hargrove has logged over 400 minutes, allowing only one goal to slip past her this season. She remains one of the top 10 goaltenders in the ACC based on goals-against average.

The Hokies will host Charlotte on Sunday, September 4 starting at 5:00 p.m. Sunday is Family Fun Day at Thompson Field. Kids can enjoy games and face painting before heading into the football game. Entrance to the game is free.
