Technical glitch delays services on three Delhi Metro lines

Services were delayed in three corridors of the Delhi metro due to a technical issue on Thursday morning, the DMRC said, even as many commuters took to social media to share photos of passengers queuing in long queues waiting for trains to arrive at many stations.

A large number of office workers are currently availing metro services to get to their destination in Delhi and neighboring cities.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) tweeted around 9am to alert commuters: “Delay in service update in services on Purple, Green and Pink lines. Please allow some extra time in your route”.

A senior official said it was due to a “hitch”.

More details are awaited.

Meanwhile, many commuters shared photos of long queues at stations.

“No metro for last 20 mins at heavy rush to Kashmir gate,” Mayank Sharma wrote in response to DMRC’s tweet.

Many passengers on these lines also tweeted that they were “uninformed” of the reason for the delay.
