BELGRADE, December 25. / TASS /. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic called Russia’s Kornet anti-tank missile systems the best in the world, adding that they are better than US Javelin anti-tank missile systems.
“I’m very glad they’ve been provided, the Kornets (anti-tank missile systems – TASS) are very important. Look at how they worked in Syria, their second name is ‘tank destroyer’. <...> These are the best missiles in the world, they are slightly better than the Javelin missile systems, which are also fantastic. It strengthens the Serbian army, âVucic said in an interview broadcast by TV channel Prva on Friday.
Earlier, the Politika newspaper reported that a batch of Kornet anti-tank missile system launch facilities had been delivered from Russia to Serbia. The missiles were delivered to the Belgrade Batainitsa military airfield on Thursday by an Il-76 military transport aircraft, the newspaper said.
On December 2, Serbian Interior Minister Aleksandar Vulin said during talks with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu in Moscow that the country had received Kornet anti-tank missile launch facilities.
Previously, Russia had handed over 30 T-72MS tanks and 30 BRDM-2MS armored personnel carriers to Serbia. From 2018 to February 2020, Russia donated to Serbia as military-technical assistance.
